From today’s Scripture: “Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were at table with them.”—Lk 5:29
If Jesus came over to my house, I would want to do a deep cleaning first. No toys on the floor, laundry put away, baseboard dusted. And I would probably want to buy some fine china for dinner.
That can be how I approach my spiritual life, too. I think I need to have it all figured out by myself before I start praying. But that’s not how Jesus wants to enter into our lives. He wants to be present in the messy, everyday. May we welcome him there.
Let us pray: Jesus, I welcome you into my heart and home. Bless my messes, and be with me as I go about my day.
