7th Tuesday in Ordinary Time

Our Lady of the Fields-3 (1)

From today’s Scripture: “Be sincere of heart and steadfast, and do not be impetuous in time of adversity.”—Sir 2:2

In Luke 1: 35, we hear about the Holy Spirit coming down on Mary and dwelling on her; this was the moment of holiness. Mary, when this happens, bore “the seed of life.” She is the new temple. In her is gone the sin of Eve by welcoming the serpent in with her sin of disobedience. Mary reverses this curse by allowing whatever God wills. Mary exemplifies true humility whereas Satan exemplifies pride and obstinate disobedience against God.

Therefore, in Our Lady of the Fields, we see the deep richness of creation because by obeying, she brings out the glory of God as he intended through created beings. Mary, too, helps us restore and cleanse the temple of our souls to make it a worthy resting place for the spirit of God.

Let us pray: Our Lady of the Fields, help me to prepare my soul and heart to welcome Christ into my life today. Teach me to follow God’s will as perfectly as you did.
