6th Friday in Ordinary Time

Winter OT Email Header 2024-3

From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said ‘Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.’”—Mk 8:34

These are words that the disciples did not wish to hear. Many hoped that in following Jesus, the road would lead to the riches of this world. A cross was a thought far out of their minds.

Life is full of crosses: poor health, broken relationships, financial problems, just to name a few. Jesus wants to walk with us as we bear the burden of life. The cross is still there, but the blessing of Jesus’ presence makes it possible as we climb the road to eternal life.

Let us pray: Jesus, sometimes I feel that the road is so long and the crosses so heavy. Walk with me, help me with the burdens of life as I give you praise for your love and light in my life.
