From today’s Scripture: “Jesus summoned the disciples and said, ‘My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat.’”—Mk 8:1-2
The story of the Gospel is the story of God’s pity, of God’s mercy, of God’s action. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. We are invited into this action as we are made new in Christ and we go out as his hands and feet to extend that same pity to the whole of the world.
Let us pray: Father, it is you who chose us. Let us be made new in that hope and by that grace and may we go out to your world and renew it through the power of your mercy.
