From today’s Scripture: “We have found the Messiah.”—Jn 1:41

John the Baptist was preaching and baptizing along the Jordan River in the south of Israel. His purpose was to point out the Messiah, the long-awaited savior or liberator of the Jewish people whose land had been occupied by the Roman Army for about 90 years.

One day, John pointed out Jesus to two of his disciples. They spent the whole day with Jesus and one of them, Andrew, became convinced that Jesus was the Messiah. He went to his brother, Peter, and they became two of Jesus’ twelve Apostles.

That’s the way the Christian Faith spread for the next 300 years with the number of believers doubling every 10 years.

Let us pray: Jesus, I believe you are God, the Messiah, and my Savior. Help me to share this gift with someone I meet in the next week.
