From today’s Scripture: “Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.’”—Lk 1:30b
Sometimes life doesn’t go according to our plan. Mary planned to get married to a young carpenter and probably to have a big family as was the custom. She certainly did not plan to become pregnant before her wedding day or to be the mother of the Son of God.
My plan or God’s plan. God’s plan may not always be immediately understood by us. Mary served as a good example of trusting in God’s plan and accepting the change to her own. Mary asks, “How can this be…”
God still needs us to respond with a “yes” like Mary to carry out his plan in our world today. God speaks to each one of us in the ordinary events of our lives and invites us to work together with him in bringing Jesus to others.
Let us pray: Lord let me know and accept your plan in my life. Guide me as I discern where you are calling me.
