From today’s Scripture: “But as it is written: ‘What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him’, this God has revealed to us through the Spirit.”—1 Cor 2:9-10
“Whoever has ears ought to hear.” I know I miss the voice of God. If I were honest with myself, it is because there is too much other noise around distracting me from the silence.
St. John of the Cross, whose feast day happens to be today, is famous for saying, “Silence is God’s first language.” Oh, how interesting that this great saint would remind us of that!
As we continue our journey through Advent, how can you shut off the noise? Are there spaces in your day that allow for God to speak to you in the language of sacred silence? May you receive peace and comfort as you attune your ears to God’s first language.
Let us pray: Lord, help me silence the noise and attune my ears to hear your voice.
