From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said to the crowds: ‘Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.’”—Mt 11:28
Rest. Doesn’t it sound heavenly?
We have a God who knows us personally enough to understand that our souls are in desperate need of rest. I wonder if he knew what we’d make of life—the rat race, the constant barrage of noise, perpetual movement and activity, the “badge of busy” that so many run around competing for.
Yes, our Lord and Savior knew even then that the only comfort for a weary soul was slowing down, stopping, and truly resting. And he knew that rest would only be fruitful if it was in his arms.
Let us pray: Lord, help me to pause for a minute today and truly rest in you.
