From today’s Scripture: “John went throughout the whole region of the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins…”—Lk 3:3
John the Baptist went about the “whole” region of the Jordan proclaiming the one who is coming. As written from the prophet Isaiah, “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.”
I wonder how this translates for us today? How are you able to prepare the way of the Lord in your own world? In what ways can you proclaim the one who is coming and draw those around you closer to him? While we may not be the hairy and tattered John the Baptist, we do have a missionary call to proclaim the coming of the Lord.
Let us pray: Lord, let this season of Advent be a reminder to me of this divine call to prepare your way.
