From today’s Scripture: “Please help them in a way worthy of God to continue their journey.”—3 Jn 1:6
In this short letter, the Apostle John is commending Gaius, the leader of the community, for all the support he has given the people and the visiting missionaries so they can continue their journey.
We are members of the Christian Community, but I think we often consider our journey as personal, even private. We do better when we see our journey as communal and consciously support the journey of other travelers.
Sometimes we even judge or criticize the journey of others. That rarely does any good, and often does harm to their journey. We are much more helpful when we show interest in the journey of another Christian, compliment them on the steps they have taken, and creatively think of ways to help them.
We, also, grow when we do.
Let us pray: Father, give me some of your wisdom and love for others, that I may be a help, not a hindrance, on their journey to you.
