From today’s Scripture: “So they called the blind man, saying to him, ‘Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.’ He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.”—Mk 10:49-50
In today’s Gospel, I am struck by the blind man’s response to Jesus. Bartimaeus doggedly calls out to Jesus. When Jesus stops and tells the others to call him, he throws his cloak—possibly his only possession—aside, springs up, and goes to Jesus. No hesitation. No second guess. He’s not worried about how he will get his cloak back after casting it aside.
How often have I heard Jesus’ call and hesitated, or made excuses, or worried about the cost (or the time) to answer his call?
Let us pray: Dear Jesus, give me the faith of Bartimaeus to persist in calling to you. Let me throw aside my worries, spring up, and answer you without hesitation when you answer my
