From today’s Scripture: “For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”—Mk 10:45
Today’s Gospel reminds me of the quote from Walt Whitman: “Be curious, not judgmental.” It is obvious from Apostles James’ and John’s demands of Jesus that they, like their Apostle brothers, have already made a false judgment on who is the Messiah. They have not taken the time to be curious about what Jesus is trying to teach them.
How often in our lives have our quick judgments led us to miss what God is trying to tell us? How many times has my quick judgment led to hurting my brother or sister in Christ?
Let us pray: Creator God, let me be always curious to find you and your will in my life. Let me remember that I do not have all the answers.
