27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Ordinary Time_Eucharist-4

From today’s Scripture: “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one flesh.”—Gn 2:24

Jesus points out that God’s intention is that we experience both unity and love. Human nature is often pulled toward division. Can we sense the pull toward deeper love?

Notice that Jesus’ comments on marriage are followed by his openness to children. Both the Kingdom and the children are a gift of God.

Let us pray: Let us pray for healing for all who suffer the pains of separation and divorce. For all married couples, that they may continue to work toward the deeper unity and love that God desires. And for those who have received the Sacrament of Marriage, may they let Christ be the center of their marriage.
