That encounter is at the heart of our incarnational, eucharistic Catholic faith; at the heart of our Glenmary charism; and at the heart of Glenmary’s social justice ministry. As the Catechism states: “The Eucharist commits us to the poor.” (no. 1397) The poor and vulnerable are a primary priority for Glenmary Home Missioners.
Social justice ministry flows from Glenmary’s love for rural and small-town America. Our founder Father William Howard Bishop enjoined us to “adopt all the people of your mission area as your own.” We reach out to people in need in our mission counties, and work to change unjust conditions that contribute to their suffering.
Glenmary’s Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) ministry is grounded in Catholic social teaching, a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. The JPIC Commission and office help to build the capacity of Glenmary mission parishes to engage in social ministry locally.
JPIC contributes to the broader Church’s social mission by collaborating on pressing social issues with national Catholic social ministry organizations, dioceses, state Catholic conferences, other churches, and other people of good will who share our values. We bring our extensive experience in rural and small town America to that collaboration.

The USCCB’s Migration and Refugee Services serves and advocates for refugees, asylees, migrants, unaccompanied children, and victims of human trafficking.
