From today’s Scripture: “Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother’s eye.”—Lk 6:42
When plans go awry at my house, I’m first to blame my husband for his lack of communication. It’ll take me a couple hours, if not days, to acknowledge that I might have had some part to play in the miscommunication, too.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us to take a look in the mirror before we start judging others for their faults. It’s not an easy task to admit our own human weaknesses and to even try to fix them. But, if we start to work on our own holiness, then we can better, and more lovingly, help those around us become holy too.
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, show me the areas where I can become more holy. With your grace, help me to start removing the wooden beams in my life today.
