From today’s Scripture: “He has poured her forth upon all his works, upon every living thing according to his bounty; he has lavished her upon his friends.”—Sir 1:9-10

The devotion of Mary, under the title of Our Lady of the Fields, shows that she represents all that is beautiful about natural/created beauty. She shows the perfection and restoration of creation. As Adam and Eve represented perfect creation before the fall, Mary represented the renewal and preservation of such perfection. Furthermore, Mary under this title represents all that is good, holy, and sacred about creation.

Our Lady of the Fields represents a Christian image rooted in reality and earthy world not just in divine ideals.

Let us pray: Lord, through the intercession of Our Lady of the Fields, today let me see your beauty in all things.
