Daily Reflection

6th Friday of Easter

Lord, give me strength.

From today’s Scripture: “One night while Paul was in Corinth, the Lord said to him in a vision, ‘Do not be afraid. Go on speaking, and do not be silent, for I am with you.’” —Acts 18:9-10

It’s hard for me to imagine that Paul needed encouragement to “go on speaking.” His ministry lasted longer than Jesus’ life on Earth! It makes me feel akin to Paul though, to think that even the towering Paul the Evangelist got discouraged, daunted by the enormity of the task and felt his inability to bring everyone to the truth. I like Jesus’ encouragement, “I’m with you, just keep going.”

In what area do you hear Jesus urging you to take a step with him and be not afraid?

Let us pray: Lord my God, help me to place my trust ever more in you. Help me to make my work, my ministry on Earth, only for your glory and not my own. Give me the grace to give you the fruits when they appear and the lack of them when they don’t. It isn’t mine to hold onto. Christ, you are the greatest of teachers, look kindly on your follower.
