5th Wednesday in Ordinary Time

Winter OT Email Header 2024-3

From today’s Scripture: “Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.”—Mk 7:15

The apostle Paul declares Jesus to be the New Adam. Here Jesus is making a new people who are defined not by what goes in but what comes out. For these people, streams of living water will pour forth, echoing the new promised land wherever they go on their missionary way.

Let us pray: Father, may we be a new people for the sake of the world. Through the Eucharist, make us new, so that from us streams of living water may go out to all we encounter.
