From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said to his disciples: ‘As the Father loves me, so I also love you.’”—Jn 15:9
These days, it’s very common to hear the word love used frequently in conversation—I love pizza! I love this movie so much! Who wouldn’t love this book? You get the picture. But the love Jesus speaks about in this Gospel passage is much deeper.
Think about it—Jesus says that he loves us just as strongly as God the Father loves Jesus. In spite of all our flaws and shortcomings, Jesus loves each of us with the strongest love possible. Even in those moments when we feel unlovable, vulnerable, or broken beyond repair. What a blessing!
Let us pray: Dear Jesus, in the moments when I am weighed down by my own brokenness and failures, help me to turn my gaze to you and realize how much you love me.
