From today’s Scripture: “For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.”—Ps 89

Let us all sing with the angels and saints: Jesus has come. Jesus’ love calls me to love more freely.  I can love and serve others.

One of my great childhood stories was my dad going out each Christmas Eve at 5 pm to buy my mother’s Christmas gift each year: Estee Lauder #7 perfume. Dad was convinced my mother loved this perfume. Each year she graciously accepted the gift.  Dad was happy; the gift was a hit. When mom died, we found a closet full of Estee Lauder #7 perfume. Mom always accepted the gift that came from the heart.

Let us pray: Jesus, give us a heart that wants to know how to live as people of the heart. Help us to be gentle with each other this Christmas season.
