From today’s Scripture: “Jesus said: ‘My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me.’” —Jn 10:27
Each of us longs to be known by others. We feel it in our hearts. This longing makes us restless.
This is part of the reason why we seek out friends, why we cultivate relationships, and why our relationships are so important. And yet, even with our human relationships, we seem to intuit that we still long for something more: to be fully known, truly understood and, therefore, unconditionally loved.
This is why Jesus is so amazing. As the Gospel says: Jesus knows his sheep. He knows us through and through, both the good aspects of who we are and the not so good. And he loves us —all of who we are, through and through.
Let us pray: Thank you, Jesus, for knowing me, for being my Shepherd, and for loving all of who I am. Amen.
