From today’s Scripture: “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone! Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today.”—Dt 6:4-6
This Scripture passage is likely well-known to many of us. It’s one of Scripture’s often quoted passages, and rightly so, for even Jesus quoted it in today’s Gospel reading. But a different line stood out to me when I read it this time—“The LORD is our God, the LORD alone!”
I once heard a pastor suggest that how we spend our time tells us a lot about our priorities. For me, I know I spend a lot of my free time listening to music. While some of it is religious music, is it the best way I could spend my time? Reflect on where God ranks on your list of priorities and how that assists you on your journey to Heaven. Is the Lord number one and the Lord alone?
Let us pray: Lord, help me to begin prioritizing my relationship with you, so that I may say that you are truly the one and only Lord in my life.
