From today’s Scripture: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how many times I yearned to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were unwilling!”—Lk 13:34
Jesus receives Herod’s threat, but he doesn’t stop: he continues healing and casting out demons because his mission is not interrupted by fear. Later he weeps for Jerusalem, which did not want to welcome him. I am impressed by his firmness and at the same time his tenderness. I too sometimes close my heart, but he continues to insist on gathering me under his wings; he only needs me to let myself be loved by him.
Let us pray: Lord, I know that you love me. Open up my heart to receive your love.
