From today’s Scripture: “‘There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?’ Jesus said, ‘Have the people recline.’”—Jn 6:9-10

Think about a time you fed a large group of people, maybe family and friends. You look around the room and see your loved ones, satisfied from a good meal and nourished with great conversation. What a great feeling.

We all know this beautiful reading today about the feeding of the five thousand. It’s one of many ways that Jesus shows us how he cares for those who follow him. He nourishes not just our minds with beautiful Scripture and teachings, but he nourishes us with the Mass and the holy Eucharist. Just like feeding your friends and family, Jesus leaves us full every Sunday, with words of wisdom and his body and blood. And there’s always room for others to join us at the table. His miracles are endless!

Let us pray: Jesus, thank you for nourishing our minds and our bodies. Please help us to see the daily miracles in our lives, all because of your mercy.
