29th Friday in Ordinary Time

OT Summer Email Header 2025-3

From today’s Scripture: “Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.”—Ps 24:6

What if it is true? I mean, what if it is really true that in the Eucharist, we actually find Jesus?

No doubt, through the gift of faith, we believe this. But then, why are we not lining up across the world in front of churches and chapels, breaking down doors to go inside, and spending our entire day in front of the Eucharist? Why aren’t all people choosing to be Catholic, just to have a taste of this Sacrament?

This is a great paradox.

But I think you find in Glenmary a strong affirmation of Eucharistic belief. Why? Glenmarians give their entire lives so that people in Mission Land, USA, who long to see the face of God, may have access to God through the Eucharist. We give our entire lives so that at least one more person may see the face of God in the consecrated host on the altar.

Let us pray: Help our actions, Lord, reflect belief in your true presence in the Eucharist.

Today’s author is Father Aaron Wessman, First Vice President of Glenmary. His most recent mission assignment was in Bertie County, North Carolina.
