29th Friday in Ordinary Time

OT Summer Email Header 2025-3

From today’s Scripture: “For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want.”—Rom 7:19

My goodness, it is hard to be a human being. We want to love. We desire connection. We crave to do God’s will. We yearn for peace…oh, how we yearn for peace in our world and in our hearts.

But we often act in ways that go against the very things we want. And we are left feeling like St. Paul: I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want.

God understands. In fact, God understands so much, that, rather than distancing himself from us as we do evil, he draws closer to us. He opens his arms. He waits.

If we turn to him, he will help us. And therein we find the grace to do the good we want.

Let us pray: Jesus, help me to run to your open arms.
