26th Saturday in Ordinary Time

Ordinary Time_Eucharist-4

From today’s Scripture: “Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”—Lk 10:20

How do you define success? We often measure success based on our earthly achievements: the grades we got in school, the sports competitions we won, the job promotions we earned, or the number of likes on our last Instagram post. But in today’s Gospel, Jesus asks us to think beyond our earthly achievements and consider how our success measures in heaven.

Going to confession, inviting a friend to Mass, and reading Scripture – these are examples of acts that bring us and our loved ones in closer unity with God. They will not win us any accolades on earth, but they will help us achieve our ultimate goal, to live eternity in heaven.

Let us pray: Lord, today I desire to be successful in your eyes. Help me to drown out the noise of the world, and show me the ways that I can grow closer to you.
