From today’s Scripture: “I believe that I shall see the good things of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD with courage; be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.”—Ps 27:13-14
This is a beautiful expression of total confidence in the Lord. Some say it is the prayer of Job after he had been tried with the loss of his children, his health, and his friends. Though I have not suffered like Job, I am consoled by the psalm after I think about all the wars in the world at the present time and how much division there is in many families, churches, and in our country. Those thoughts are deadening, but when I think of God’s love for me and for you and his willingness to die for all of us to give us life and happiness with him without end, my heart is joyful and I’m filled with happiness.
Let us pray: Jesus, thank you, thank you, and—I say it again—thank you, for loving me and all others and uniting us with you. You are what we need.
