From today’s Scripture: “They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues, greetings in marketplaces, and the salutation ‘Rabbi.’”—Mt 23:6-7
I don’t know about you, but to me, these words are quite challenging. It seems all too easy to want to be respected and honored, especially if we did something good. Then why does Christ say this?
Perhaps Christ is telling us not to be attached to honor and respect. He is pointing us to something greater. He wants us to seek true humility which he exemplified with his life.
Let us pray: Lord, may you become my all and make me truly humble.
