From today’s Scripture: “In praying, do not babble like the pagans…”—Mt 6:7
Every so often, someone will ask if praying the rosary is against the Bible. This question is usually associated with this Scripture. Is the rosary just a lot of babble? My very clear answer is “No.” The very routine of the Our Father and Hail Mary is what allows us to focus on the mysteries of Christ. It allows us to turn over to the Lord what worry or need accompanies our prayer. When the rosary is prayed with intention, then it is not babbling. It is a wonderful, comforting way to pray and connect with Jesus. And if you pray it in the evening and fall asleep during the fourth mystery…what a beautiful way to end the day.
Let us pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil.
