First Wednesday of Advent

They placed them at his feet, and he cured them.–Mt 15:30

Today’s Gospel: Mt 15:29-37

They placed them at his feet, and he cured them.
The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the deformed made whole,
the lame walking,
and the blind able to see,
and they glorified the God of Israel.

Reflection: The mute speak, people are made whole, those who couldn’t walk or see now can–these are Isaiah’s signs that the Messiah is among us. It is a cause of great consolation that our Messiah is among us during these dark days of pandemic. We need to trust that God’s hand is leading us through this.

Let us pray: Lord, help my unbelief! Open my heart to read the signs of your presence in the people, places, all of creation around me.
