Growing and trusting

From today’s Scripture: “‘Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?’”—Mt 8:26

I must confess that I am terrified of lightning. When lightning strikes, I just want to lie in my bed and shut my eyes. I know my God controls the lightning but when I see it strike, I tend to forget who God is. Our fears can make us forget who God is and that he is for us.

It is easy to think we would be different from the disciples. Let us reflect on all that God has done in our past and ask ourselves, are there times when we still doubt? If you are like me, the answer is yes. Fears and doubts are a part of our journey, but they do not define our faith. They are there to help us grow and trust in the Lord.

Let us pray: God, amid our storms, let us not be defined by our fears and doubts. Instead let us encounter you and grow in faith. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
