Second Sunday of Advent

Daily Reflection

Second Sunday of Advent

Come, Lord Jesus.

From today’s Scripture:Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.”—Mt 3:3

Have you ever just put something off? Who hasn’t! Most of us are procrastinators at least in some way. My personal hope is that I will lose weight—someday. I know what it will take since I’ve done it before. A few times, actually: Change what I eat and how much I eat. Be faithful to exercise that works for me. Since I have no underlying health issues, it will happen! Oh, and yes, I have to start sometime.

I know the same about my faith life: with some discipline, I will wake up to God working in my life, and in the world around me. Luckily, though, in this case I’m not on my own. If I just try a little, I know that God will grow my faith. That’s grace. Advent is a great time to wake up, to open up, to grace! Today, God says. Prepare his way. Make straight his paths.

Let us pray: Lord, help me to wake up! Give me your grace today to do just one thing that will help me to focus on your coming into my life.
