Second Saturday of Easter Season

Daily Reflection

Second Saturday of Easter Season

Fear not.

From today’s Scripture: “…they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they began to be afraid. But he said to them, ‘It is I. Do not be afraid.’” —Jn 6:19-20

The disciples make their way on the sea, absent the presence of Jesus. Much like when the Spirit hovered over the waters in Genesis so, too, Jesus walks on the water. Bringing harmony to a chaotic world,  Jesus brings peace, telling his disciples, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”

Life’s situations can often feel chaotic. The Apostles experienced this in the Epistle with the demands of a fledgling Church. Yet the Spirit comes and brings harmony and word of this peace spreads to all. Even the most unlikely to accept it.

Let us pray: Grant us, Lord, the grace to ever look for the movement of your Spirit in our midst. May we not lose our bearings in the midst of chaos but look to you ever more.
