Second Friday of Advent

Glenmary News

Second Friday of Advent

Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life.

Today’s Reading: Ps 1:1-2, 3, 4, and 6

“…He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,

and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers….”

Reflection: Today’s psalm proclaims the character of the just one, the one who follows the Lord. Rather than one who is greedy, self-centered, even wicked, the just one draws on the waters of life. If you’re reading about Glenmary’s work and praying along with us, you’re probably not one of the wicked ones! But who we aren’t can tell us something about who we are. We  pray for the gift of faith, strive to be faithful, we pray to prosper as God would have us to.

Let us pray: Lord, teach me today to be thankful for your many blessings. Enkindle in my heart a sense of awe for all of creation. Let me to learn from the fruit of the earth, from the trees around me, from everything that lives, that you are the author of life.
