Glenmary hits #GivingTuesday goal
The generosity of Glenmary’s supporters was on full display Nov. 27, called #GivingTuesday, as the Home Missioners of America raised $10,800, surpassing their goal.
Glenmary participated in #GivingTuesday in 2017 as well, raising $1,300 for the missions. This year, a coordinated grassroots effort on social media led by Assistant Development Director Rachel Thome resulted in the increased giving.
“We are blown away by the continued kindness, love and generosity of our supporters,” Rachel said. “It was amazing to see so many of the Glenmarians’ friends join the fun. It is really telling of just how incredible the Glenmary priests and brothers are when so many people are willing to rally around them.”
More than 90 donations from a half dozen states propelled Glenmary’s success. The money will go to mission support, which assists in the operation of Glenmary’s 10 missions and related ministries.
In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, where Glenmary is based, nearly 100 Catholic non-profits participated in #GivingTuesday. Glenmary raised the fourth-most of any institution or parish and was one of just five groups to break the $10,000 mark.
