ABILENE, Texas – From January 21-24 Glenmary Home Missioners representatives met with members of the Churches of Christ at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, for an ecumenical gathering.

The purpose of the gathering was to enhance understanding, reduce alienation and foster reconciliation between Catholics and members of the Churches of Christ. The event included prayer, faith sharing and exploring the ways in which participants could partner together for the Kingdom of God.

“It was a profound event that changed the lives of those who participated,” said Glenmary First Vice President Father Aaron Wessman. “Future plans have been made to continue to deepen what God has begun through this grace-filled experience.”

Glenmary Home Missioners is a Catholic society of priests, brothers and lay coworkers dedicated to serving the spiritual and material needs of people living in mission counties throughout Appalachia and the South. One of Glenmary’s primary focuses is ecumenical relationships with other Christian groups for the purpose of fostering Christian unity.
