Daily Inspiration

Fifth Sunday of Easter

Trust in God.

From today’s Scripture: “And his commandment is this: we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another just as he commanded us.” —1 Jn 3:23

This Scripture verse introduces two beautiful, yet challenging concepts: believing in Jesus Christ and loving others. But when it comes right down to it, these aren’t always easy to live out. For example, one of the definitions of the word believe is “to have trust.” To trust in a God we have never seen requires a lot of faith.

Loving others isn’t easy either—the Scripture doesn’t mention only loving the people we like. It encompasses everyone, no matter how annoying or off-putting they are. What a tall order! Yet, with God’s help, we can do it. May we be inspired, each day, to cultivate our trust in God and do our best to love others.

Let us pray: Loving God, help us to believe more deeply in you, each day, as we seek to love one another as you love us.
