Holy Trinity

Daily Reflection

Holy Trinity

In the name of the Father…

From today’s Scripture: Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;

to God who is, who was, and who is to come.”(Alleluia verse)

How can we say that we believe in one God, but still believe in the Holy Trinity? That’s a stumbling block for many non-Christians. But it is the revelation of God to the Christian community. There is one God. That’s the shared vision of Jews, Christians and Muslims, who all claim Abraham as the “Father of Faith.”

Yet God so loved the world that God became one of us, today’s Gospel proclaims. And Jesus breathed out his spirit, the breath of God, onto the Church.

These are three manifestations, or persons, of the one God. Life is rich and complicated! God knows that. God became incarnate in Jesus to be in solidarity with humanity, and showed us that we should be in solidarity—com-unity—with each other. The breath of God, God manifest in the Spirit, in our hearts, in our relationships with one another, empower us towards the union with God and other. It’s all about relationship.

Let us pray: Loving God, saving Jesus, empowering Spirit, be with me today and I contemplate your wonder. Help me see in you the power of right relationship.
