Make heaven crowded
From today’s Scripture: “When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize.” –Prv 31:10-11
When my older sister was getting married, I learned that the true purpose of the sacrament of marriage is to help your spouse get to heaven. I often forget this now, though married, as I worry about more trivial things like what are we going to have for dinner and when will the laundry get done. Today’s first reading reminds me to step back and consider the bigger picture: how are we preparing each other to enter heaven?
In truth, it should be our goal to help everyone we meet get to heaven. Coworkers, friends, family, and anyone else God has put in our path – we have a responsibility to help them know the love of God and encourage them toward an eternal life with him. Let’s make heaven crowded.
Let us pray: God, remind me today that an eternal life with you is our ultimate goal. Help me to show your love to those in my life this day.
