Call to Mission
Ash Wednesday 2008

Desert Journey. Today is Ash Wednesday,
the start of the 40 days of Lent when we are
called fasting, prayer and almsgiving as we
prepare for Easter. These are sometimes
referred to as "desert days" as we remember
Jesus' 40 days in the desert when he was
tempted and in despair. But desert days
aren't only related to Lent-we all face times
of darkness in our lives when we are
searching for God's healing. Such was the
case for Joe
and Alice. They turned to the local
Glenmary missioner for help to save their
marriage as many Catholics and non-Catholics
living in our missions do. A donation
today will help ensure that missioners
continue to be present to those struggling
through a desert journey hoping that
eventually they will see spring.

Director

Donor Sees Planned Gift as 'Good Investment'
Francis James was in his 20s when he established a revocable trust with Glenmary. Today, this U.N. worker calls establishing a trust a financial "no-brainer," because the income from the trust is benefiting his family today and the assets of the trust will benefit Glenmary in the future. |
