In the modern marketplace, a person is valued by what that person produces, does or consumes. We invest time to become the strongest, the wealthiest, the smartest and the most beautiful. But Catholic belief in human life and dignity leads to these convictions*:
The bedrock, the foundation of Christianity is that the human person is central. All people are the clearest reflection of God among us.
Each person possesses a basic dignity that comes from God, not from any human quality or accomplishment.
We believe that every human life is sacred from conception to natural death.
The test of every human institution or policy is whether it enhances or threatens human life and dignity.
Examining our habits of listening and behavior patterns can help us pinpoint where God is calling us to change and grow in our values.
