How Ethical and Legal Is Your Web Site?
Ethics
and legality are important considerations for any parish with a
Web site. Here are some basic principles to follow:
Pay attention to copyright restrictions and cite the sources.
Have a Web site disclaimer stating that the parish or Catholic
agency is not responsible for information found on other sites
which have links from this one.
If you are displaying photos of children or under age minors
you must have, on file, a signed permission form from their parents.
If you are corresponding regularly by e-mail with anyone under
the age of 14for example, a Sunday School teacher with a
classwritten permission from the parents must be on file.
