he experiences with Jesus when he receives Holy Communion.
Georgia parish mission a success!
Isaiah Parish Missions have been very effective in promoting congregational spiritual renewal and evangelization in small, rural parishes. For the past year, Glenmary's Department of Pastoral Ministers & Pastoral Services has been offering the Blessed and Broken: Living the Eucharist Isaiah Parish Mission in Glenmary parishes.
Each Isaiah Parish Mission begins with a parish team of six to eight parishioners. The team meets regularly in the weeks before the Mission to deepen their faith by using discussion material from Called and Sent: Living the Eucharist by Susan Blum-Gerding. Along with the Isaiah Mission preachers, the team spends the Saturday before the Mission begins in prayer, sharing how God is working in their lives through participating in worship (the Mass) and preparing for the four-night revival.
The most recent Isaiah Parish Mission was at Holy Trinity Church in Swainsboro, Ga. During the last evening of the Mission, parishioners and team members were asked what aspects of the revival were of the greatest benefit to them. Here is a sampling of their comments:
- The thought process that began during the Mission. I grew up never reading the Bible and will try to change that.
- To accept God's forgiving love in my life.
- The rituals truly enhanced the Mission and brought it home for me!
- A renewed yearning for the Eucharist.
- Being part of the team made me want to read the entire book of Isaiah.
- Growing closer to other parishioners and God.
- Peace within myself and gratefulness for my faith.
