Father Dominic Duggins Celebrates Twenty-five Years

Father Dominc Duggins

As Father Dominic Duggins reflected on his twenty-five years as a Glenmarian, he quoted Mother Teresa: '''We are not called to greatness; we are called to a life of faithfulness. '"

Father Dominic has faithfully served God, Glenmary, and the people in the missions during this quarter century.

Father Duggins, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, entered Glenmary in 1961 as a candidate for brotherhood. In 1963, he professed his first oath, and four years later made a final commitment as a Glenmary Brother.

After a few years in the missions he began to realize that he was being drawn to a different ministry. "It was a struggle," he said of that period in his life. "I had been wrestling with the question of priesthood for some time. I talked to many people about it, but I knew the decision would ultimately have to come from within myself."

Ordained in 1974, Father Dominic is now pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Hugo, Oklahoma. He has also served as pastor in Waynesboro' Georgia, and as Director of the Glenmary House of Studies in Washington, D.C.

Today, Father Dominic is contented as a mission pastor. "I find happiness in the little things that happen within the parish. They are positive signs, even though, in their midst, I might wish people would participate more. However, in terms of percentages, we are doing quite well."
