Men from Kenya, Nigeria and the United States
make up 2007-08 prenovitiate class
 |
| Visit to Headquarters: From left, prenovices Andrew Takara, Emmanuel Nwala, Dionicio Rangel, Mark Grobner, Michael Onuoha and Levis Kuwa recently visited Glenmary’s Headquarters to meet with the Cincinnati coworkers and get acquainted with the area where Glenmary was founded by Father Bishop in 1939. |
Six men from three countries—Kenya, Nigeria, and the United States—make up Glenmary’s 2007-08 prenovitiate class.
The prenovices say they are enjoying the international feel of the House of Studies in Hartford, Ky., as well as being involved in the structured formation program led by Father Vic Subb and Brother Tom Sheehy.
The prenovitiate began in August. Since then the men have focused on discerning their missionary vocation through study at nearby Brescia University, through prayer and through service to the community.
The six men currently living in Hartford:
Mark Grobner, 42, of Chicago, Ill., has worked as a hospital chaplain prior to joining Glenmary. Mark is pursuing missionary priesthood.
Levis Kuwa, 24, from Ol’kalou, Kenya, has spent two years in discernment with Glenmary and also worked as a hospital chaplain—in Nairobi. He is discerning missionary priesthood or brotherhood.
Emmanuel Nwala, 25, from Port Harcourt, Nigeria, has been in discernment with Glenmary for five years. He plans to pursue missionary priesthood.
Michael Onuoha, 28, from Enugu, Nigeria, was accepted into the prenovitiate last year but did not receive his travel visa until summer 2007. He plans on pursuing missionary priesthood.
Dionicio Rangel, 35, from Dallas, Texas, has volunteered with Glenmary since 2006 and has also spent time in several missions. He is interested in missionary priesthood.
Andrew Takara, 28, of Nairobi, Kenya, worked as a certified public accountant prior to entering Glenmary. A cousin of Glenmary postnovice Dennis Makokha, Andrew is interested in missionary brotherhood.
