† Bob Laremore, pastoral coordinator of Resurrection Chapel in Moulton, Ala., was recently elected to the United States Catholic Mission Association’s Board of Directors. As a member of the board, Bob is representing the home missions of the United States and Glenmary.
† Brother Bob Hoffman, a senior member, is currently volunteering his building skills in Kenya. He is helping a village build a six-room school for a parish that has 10 missions and 30,000 Catholics. He also hopes to build a house for the pastor. Brother Bob enjoys donating his time and talents both internationally and here in the United States.
† Marcia Oetzel, who worked in Donor Services at Glenmary Headquarters in Cincinnati, retired on Feb. 1. She worked for Glenmary for the past eight years and retired to spend more time traveling with her husband, Jim.
† Bill Grimes, a deacon serving Glenmary’s St. Julie Church in Owingsville, Ky., received the first Bath County Community Service Volunteer Award last October. The award honors “the individual who stays in the background and doesn’t get the recognition.” As a physician’s assistant/nurse practitioner, Bill has spent more than 20 years treating patients at the Bath County Medical Clinic in Owingsville. In 2000, he launched the New Hope Clinic, which offers free medical services to those living in and around the Kentucky county who don’t have insurance or the ability to pay for medical care. The tiny clinic has seen more than 2,000 patients to date.
† Father John Brown and the members of Glenmary’s mission in Stillmore, Ga., finally have a new worship space. But it needed a little rehabbing so they called Brother Virgil Siefker to lead the project. He has completed the work and the community celebrated the first Mass in their new home on Jan. 27.
