11th Saturday in Ordinary Time

Waste of time

From today’s Scripture: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”—Mt 6:25

Prudence is a good thing, we know, but worrying is not the same thing. Prudence means acting with appropriate caution; worry means dwelling on all of the things that might be wrong and won’t get right. Worry, Jesus tells us, is a waste of time. Try trusting.

Let us pray: Give me freedom, Lord, to trust in your great love. Give me hope, O God, that I might see before me the possibilities of life. Help me not to worry too much about the rest.
